Yesterday we were walking Dali at Piedmont Park and we took him to the small dogs section of the Park and we saw this beautiful Brussels Griffon named Lola with his master, a really nice girl with whom we started talking about our four legged friends while the two of them were sniffing each other’s butts and she told us how she got her pet. Well, she said that she got Lola at the Puppy Head Start organization that is managed by Beth, a great Human Being who takes cares of lots and lots of puppies that have been rescued by ots her non profit organizations. So, as soon as we got home after a day at the Park we went on line and checked their website and it seem that Beth is doing a tremendous job and we think that is worth it spreading the word about her and her organization. We will be taking a trip up to their facilities pretty soon and an update on this post should be expected then. Meanwhile, you are invited to check them out and see how wonderful they are… Oh, and by the way, Dali wants a Brussels Griffon as his brother or sister…

During this past weekend we have been contacted by the Rescue Coordinator for Ratbone Rescues in GA letting us know of the next Petapalooza that will be held in Suwanee, GA on May 17th. We are thrilled to be able to help these amazing people who care about dogs and believe that part of our help consist in making this event and this rescue group known. Ratbone Rescue is dedicated to help Rat Terriers in need and more about them can be read HERE.

On yet another note about our heroes, here I found this article where dogs are trained to rescue people that are buried in snow after an avalanche has occurred. As the story tells us there is no better match than our beloved dogs paired up with great human beings who volunteer several hours a week to keep these rescue animal in top physical condition and ready to go wherever they might be needed. In the case of Cascade, a 2 years old Golden Retriever, he has been putting his skills to good use every since he was four weeks old and is a fourth generation avalanche dog. His handler Chris Sutton trains him at least once a week in areas where the natural disasters may occur and sometimes it takes only 30 seconds for the dog to find the victims and considering the extreme weather conditions, 30 seconds becomes a matter of life or death so that is why we should be eternally thankful to not only the rescue dogs but also to their handlers who give their time and efforts to keep them in top conditions to come to the rescue at any time.
